Matthew's Miles Mission Statement

To raise brain tumor awareness in the general public and to raise money for pediatric brain tumor research in hope of finding a cure for this devastating illness.

October 18, 2008: We have extra T-shirts! Donate $20 to the American Brain Tumor Association through Matthew's Miles and we will send you a blue 6th Annual Matthew's Miles T-shirt and a gray ABTA/"Sharing Hope" wristband. Be sure to include your mailing address and T-shirt size in the paypal note field.

October 17, 2008: SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE! Two Soulmates, cheerleaders for the 2008 Arena Bowl Champion Philadelphia Soul, are scheduled to appear at Matthew's Miles tomorrow (SAT, 10/18, 9:30 AM) at the Logan Township Recreational Park. Bring your cameras, and your autograph books (or other items) to be signed by Soulmates Becky and Jackie!

September 19, 2008: Matthew celebrated his 15th birthday! And with our donations received this week, we've officially passed $100,000 raised for pediatric brain tumor research over the six years of our fundraiser's existence.

Matthew's Miles Milestones

February 5, 2009: To date, our Sixth Annual Matthew's Miles Walkathon and Auction has raised $12,016 for pediatric brain tumor research by the American Brain Tumor Association. Our six year total is now over $109,000!

September 2008: Matthew's Miles officially passed $100,000 in raised donations since we started the walkathon six years ago.

June 17, 2008: [Revised Aug. 2, 2008] To date, the Fifth Annual Matthew's Miles Walkathon and Auction has raised $15,860 for pediatric brain tumor research by the Children's Cancer Foundation, for a five-year fundraising total over $97,000.

September 2007: Family Fun Magazine (OCT 2007) in their annual Family Volunteerism issue, named the Passarellas of Swedesboro First-Prize winners and will give a $1,000 check to their chosen charity, the Children's Cancer Foundation. The Passarellas were recognized for organizing "a walk to support prediatric brain tumor research."

January 2007: Tthe Fourth Annual Matthew's Miles Walkathon and Auction raised over $16,000 for pediatric brain tumor research by the Children's Cancer Foundation.

November 2005: The Third Annual Matthew's Miles Walkathon and Auction raised $20,555 for brain tumor research by the Children's Cancer Foundation, for a three-year fundraiser total over $65,000.

June 2005: The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) establishes a two-year pediatric brain tumor research Fellowship in Matthew's name at Johns Hopkins Hospital, in appreciation of the money raised through two years of Matthew's Miles.

September 2004: The Second Annual Matthew's Miles Walkathon and Auction raises over $25,000 for brain tumor research by the American Brain Tumor Association, for a two-year total over $45,000.

September 2003: The First Annual Matthew's Miles Walkathon and Auction raises over $20,000 for brain tumor research by the American Brain Tumor Association.
